Algeria and Tunisia affirm their commitment to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state
On February 2, Algerian Presidents Abdel Majid Taboun and his Tunisian counterpart Qais Sa’aed affirmed their countries’ rejection of the so-called ‘ deal of the century ‘and their commitment to establishing an independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders with Jerusalem as its capital.
“ There is a complete convergence of the position of the two countries, which is based on the refusal of (the deal of the century) and adherence to the independent Palestinian state within the borders of 1967 and its capital, Al-Quds Al-Sharif,” Taboun said during a press conference following talks with his Tunisian counterpart in Algiers.
With regards to Libya, Taboun pointed to the identical position of the two countries towards it and the necessity of resolving the crisis in it by the Libyans themselves and the need to stop sending arms to Libya.
Taboun said: “The fight against terrorism will continue with the activation of all mechanisms to combat it on the border.”
Taboun said that the two countries agreed during their talks on developing border areas and economic integration between them.
