Aleppo’s Ahly team defeats the Iraqi Al-Shorta team in the semi-final qualification playoffs of the West Asian Basketball Championship

Aleppo –(ST)-Aleppo’s Al-Ittihad Al-Ahly team defeated the Iraqi Al-Shorta team with a score of 91-80 points in the match that brought them together on the grounds of Al-Hamdaniya Hall in Aleppo in the semi-final qualification playoffs of the West Asian Basketball Championship.

The first three quarters of the match have ended in favor of the Ahly of Aleppo by 21-18 points, 24-13 points, and 25-13 points, while the fourth quarter went in favor of the Iraqi Al-Shorta by 36-21 points.

Al-Ittihad Al-Ahly of Aleppo lost to the Iraqi Al-Shorta with a score of 89-73 points in the playoff series that qualifies for the semi-finals of the tournament. The two teams will face each others in a third match to be held in Iraq, in which the winner will qualify directly to the semi-finals.

Ahly of Aleppo defeated Iraqi Al-Naft team in the first round of the tournament with a score of 79-72 points, but it lost to Iranian Gorgan with a score of 70-121 points in the second round and it also lost to Lebanese Al-Hikma by 81-72 points in the third round, while it won against Iraqi Naft with a score of 74-62 in the fourth round.  Ahly of Aleppo was also defeated by the Iranian Gorgan by a score of 80-65 points in the fifth round and it also defeated by the Lebanese Hekma by a score of 101-58 points in the sixth round.

The  participating teams in the tournament were divided into two groups, where the teams played in a league manner with each group separately in the first round, with the first from each group qualifying directly for the semi-finals, while the second in each group played with the third in the other group, so that four teams would qualify for the semi-finals.
