Former Italian Foreign Minister Franco Frattini has stressed that retaking Aleppo and getting eastern Aleppo under full control of the Syrian government would be one of the key points to go ahead with a political solution for the future of Syria.
In a statement to RT, Frattini said the liberation of Aleppo is very important for the “liberation” of the entire territory of Syria from terrorist groups.
He added that “retaking Aleppo and eastern Aleppo under full control of the Syrian government would be one of the key points to go ahead with the political solution for the future of Syria.”
Frattini also said that the so-called “moderate opposition” groups have close connection to terrorist organizations. They used civilians as human shields and blocked even the evacuation of children and women from East Aleppo.
He affirmed the need to cooperate with international forces, like the Russian Federation, in the fight against terrorism, stressing that “putting a precondition [that] President Assad should leave tomorrow is not realistic, it is simply wrong.”
