Aleppo Governor Azzam al-Gharib discussed with French Special Envoy to Syria Jean-François Guillaume ways to enhance cooperation in the areas of reconstruction, infrastructure development and humanitarian support.
During the meeting, the latest developments in Aleppo Governorate were reviewed, with focus on mechanisms to enhance French support for development projects in the city, thus contributing to stabilizing the situation.
The resumption of the activities of the French Consulate in Aleppo after the completion of ongoing restoration works was also discussed. The Consoulate closed in 2012 due to the security situation at that time.
Both sides emphasized the importance of developing bilateral relations in the coming period to serve the interests of the Syrian and French peoples. The meeting was attended by Saad Naasan, Head of Political Affairs, and Muhammad Ali Aziz, Head of the City Council.
