A central celebration was held on Saturday at Al-Assad Sport Hall in Aleppo to mark the 5th Anniversary of victory over terrorism in this province. Officials and popular figures attended the event.
1000 families of the martyrs, who watered the land of Aleppo with their blood and scarified dearly to liberate their city from the terrorist organizations, were honored during the event.
The celebration began with a military parade held by some Syrian army units and the law-enforcement battalion in Aleppo. The parade was followed by the screening of a documentary depicting the steadfastness of the Allepeans in the face of the terrorist siege until they achieved victory over terrorism.
Performances of Syrian folklore as well as Circassian dancing by the Syrian Circassian band were also presented besides several national songs by singers from Aleppo.
At the opening of the event, Aleppo Governor Hussein Diyab said that this celebration is held today to recall Aleppo’s great victory over terrorists that would not have been achieved without the steadfastness of the people in Aleppo and the sacrifices of the Syrian Arab army.
“After defeating terrorism, Aleppo began to recover and rise again. All concerned parties are constantly working to remove the dust of the destructive war and restore life, work and production to all parts of the province,” the governor added.
On his part, Major General Barakat Barakat, Head of the Military and Security Committee in Aleppo, hailed Aleppo’s victory over terrorism, stressing that this victory has been an important turning point in the history of the terrorist war on Syria.
“Aleppo’s victory is a message of glory and pride written with the blood of the martyrs. It affirms that the will of the people and the army has triumphed over the takfiri and terrorist forces and the division schemes of their supporters,” he added.
Head of the Directorate in charge of the martyrs, the wounded and the missing affairs Bassam Kamel Barri said that the martyrs’ families have proved to the entire world their determination and steadfastness and their strong belief that the martyrs are the symbol of homelands’ survival and steadfastness.
“Honoring the martyrs’ families today expresses the Syrians’ sincerity and loyalty to those who protected Syria,” he pointed out.
