Ala: The Israeli aggression against Damascus is a precedent in targeting the headquarters of a diplomatic mission protected under international law.

Cairo-(ST)- Syria’s Permanent Representative to the League of Arab States, Ambassador Hossam El-Din Ala, confirmed that the genocidal war committed by the Israeli occupation entity in Gaza Strip and the escalating attacks on Syrian and Lebanese lands threaten international and regional peace and security as a whole and detonate the situation in the region.

Ambassador Ala discussed the developments in the situation in Palestine and explained that the Israeli aggression against the Iranian consulate headquarters in Damascus caused martyrs among Iranian diplomats and Syrian citizens, and constituted an aggression against the sovereignty of the Syrian Arab Republic. The aggression also constituted a precedent in deliberately targeting the headquarters of a diplomatic mission protected under the Vienna Conventions and the rules of law International.

Ambassador Ala said: “Syria condemns this aggression and appreciates the positions issued by the Arab League and the sister Arab countries that condemned this aggression as a violation of the sovereignty of the Syrian Arab Republic. It also confirms that the continuation of the Israeli aggression on the occupied Palestinian territories and on the Syrian and Lebanese territories constitutes a threat to Arab national security, and requires taking measures to curb the aggression and put pressure on the United States and the United Kingdom to enable the Council to assume its legal responsibilities in stopping the Israeli crimes and massacres that threaten international peace and security.”

Ambassador Ala stated that the continuation of the Israeli massacres aims to implement the plan of ethnic cleansing and forced displacement, pointing out that the world witnessed the most horrific massacres after hundreds of mutilated bodies were found in the Al-Shifa Medical Complex following a siege for 15 days and that resulted in putting complex out of operation.

Ambassador Ala stressed that the United States insists on its full partnership in the Israeli aggression while continuing to provide lethal military supplies. He said: “In this regard, Syria holds the occupying entity and its American partners fully responsible for these crimes and for threatening peace and security in the entire Middle East region and pushing them to “Unprecedented levels of escalation and tension.”

Ambassador Alla renewed Syria’s full support for the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and establish their independent state, with al-Quds as its capital, and to hold the occupying entity accountable for its crimes and massacres, which in their brutality and barbarism recorded an unprecedented level of war crimes and crimes against humanity.
