Ala: Syria’s top priority is Liberating its territories from terrorism and occupation

Syria’s Permanent Representative to the Arab League, head of the Syrian diplomatic mission, Husam Eddin Ala, has stressed that Syria’s priority now is liberating its lands from the remains of terrorism and occupation and to recover from the economic repercussions of the crisis and to improve the living conditions of citizens in the light of the unilateral coercive measures imposed on the Syrian people.

He made the remarks during a meeting on Saturday with an Egyptian delegation representing the “Journalists for Supporting Syria Gathering” at the Syrian Embassy’s headquarters in Cairo.  The meeting coincided with the 66th anniversary of unity between Syria and Egypt which was a turning point in the history of the two countries that embodied the deep relations between the Syrian and Egyptian peoples.

Ala affirmed the Gathering’s contribution to supporting Syria in the face of the terrorist, economic and media war that has been targeting it with the aim of exposing the truth about this war to the Arab and international public opinion.

The Syrian diplomat explained to the delegation the situation in Syria after the Syrian Arab Army has succeeded in expelling terrorism and establishing control over most of the Syrian territories.

He reiterated the importance of joint Arab action to stop the war of genocide waged by the Israeli occupation entity on Gaza Strip and the rest of the occupied Palestinian lands and to confront the Israeli forced displacement scheme being implemented against the Palestinian people. He pointed out that priority should be given to immediate ceasefire and urgent and unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid to the steadfast Palestinians in Gaza Strip.

For their part, members of the Egyptian delegation expressed their full solidarity with Syria in its war on terrorism and occupation and in the confrontation of the Israeli and American attacks. They reiterated the need to join Arab efforts as to foil the Zionist schemes that aim at undermining the Palestinian cause and as to face the campaigns that target the Arab region and identity.

The delegation comprised Secretary General of the Gathering, deputy Chief Editor of “Al-Jumhouriyah” Newspaper Noura Khalaf, journalist and writer in “Al-Masaa” Newspaper Kheiriya Al-Bashlawi, Deputy Chief Editor of “Al-Akhbar” Newspaper Mohammad Saad and General Coordinator of the Arab Popular Front for Unity Alaa Abu Zeid.
