Al-Zoubi meets Iranian officials over recent developments, media cooperation

Information Minister Omran al-Zoubi has held meetings with several Iranian officials in Tehran over the recent developments in the region and mechanism of developing media cooperation in counterterrorism.

Al-Zoubi separately met today Iran’s Assistant Foreign Minister for the Arab and African affairs Hussein Amir Abdullahian and Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Ali Jannati as well as Director of the Iranian Radio and TV Institute Mohammad Sarfaraz.

During the meetings, al-Zoubi talked about the situation of the Syrian media outlets and the terrorist organizations’ attacks on this sector, stressing the importance of signing a Memorandum of Understanding between the two countries in the field of media cooperation in order to face the threat of terrorism.

On their part, Iranian officials reiterated their country’s support for Syria in all fields.

“Iran’s stance towards Syria will never ever change,” Abdullahian said, calling on the countries that support terrorism to stop providing terrorist organizations with money and arms in accordance with the relevant UN Security Council resolutions.

While Jannati described the relations between Iran and Syria as strategic and distinguished, referring to the wisdom of President Bashar al-Assad and the steadfastness of the Syrian people and army in confronting the terror war for more than 4 years.

“The bilateral cooperation serves the interests of the two countries’ peoples,” he said.

Sarfaraz confirmed Iran’s readiness to support the Syria media sector.

A joint field committee is to be formed to study how to cooperate in confronting the current challenges.

The Syrian official’s visit to Iran aimed at taking part in the 8thGeneral Assembly of the Islamic Radio and Television union (IRTVU) and to discuss issues in the field of media and to be briefed on Iran’s experiences in times of crisis.
