Al-Zou’bi to Egyptian Journalists: Fighting Terrorism Requires International Cooperation

DAMASCUS, (ST)-Information Minister Omran al-Zou’bi has stressed that all countries should unify their efforts as to fight the terrorism hitting the region to serve the interests of the Zionist entity.

Meeting a delegation of Egyptian journalists on Tuesday, al-Zou’bi said that fighting terrorism requires cooperation and political understanding among countries of the region and that what is going on in some Arab countries is part of the scheme which aims to divide the region to serve Israel’s interests.

He pointed out that the Syrian media has dedicated itself to uncover the crimes of the armed terrorist organizations in Syria, asking why the Syrian media are still prevented the Egyptian Nilesat Company from broadcasting through its channels despite the fact that the Syrian media is uncovering the schemes of the common enemy of Syria and Egypt.

The minister noted that more than 800 foreign journalists have been allowed access to Syria to make interviews and to move freely from a province to another.

Replying questions on political initiatives to solve the crisis in Syria and about ways to confront the takfiri terrorism targeting the country, al-Zou’bi said the Syrian government has been ready from the very beginning of the crisis for political dialogue at any time and by all means, “but the problem is with the opposition which doesn’t have own decision and it gets dictates from foreign countries.”

He added that any political track that harms national sovereignty or the Syrian state is completely rejected.

On the relation between Syrian and Egypt, al-Zou’bi said the no one can cancel the historical relation between the two countries.

Members of the guest delegation, on their part, expressed solidarity with the Syrian media, stressing that their visit to Syria and their meeting with different categories of the Syrian society will be invested to raise the awareness of the Egyptian society about the reality of events in Syria.

They criticized the destructive, inciting and misleading role played by the Qatari “al-Jazeera” channel in some Arab countries and called for starting a new era of distinguished relations between Syria and Egypt.

The Egyptian delegation comprised journalists representing several newspapers and TV channels
