Al-Zou’bi to “Al-Mayadeen”: Syrian State Still Seeking Political Solution with Opposition Based on Confronting Terrorism

DAMASCUS, (ST)-Information Minister Omran al-Zou’bi has stressed that the Syrian Arab Army is strong and coherent enough to triumph in the battle against terrorism and that the Syrian state is still seeking political solution with national opposition forces based on mobilizing all pro and anti-government parties’ efforts to confront the terrorist organizations fighting Syria.

“This Syrian political stance hasn’t been changed or shifted,” Al-Zou’bi told the Beirut-based “Al-Mayadeen” Channel last night.

The minister said that any assessment of the situation in Syria without recognizing the existence of ISIS and al-Nousra Front terrorist organizations or without acknowledging the involvement of Saudi, Qatari, Turkish and western parties in supporting the terrorists, will be of no value and meaningless.

He pointed out that Turkey has got a scheme to implement in the region, Saudi Arabia is funding terrorism and Qatar plus other foreign parties also have their own designs in the Middle East, but, “our option as Syrians is to defend Syria’s unity, seek political solution and attain national reconciliation among the Syrians.”

Regarding rumors on Iranian forces entering Syria, al-Zou’bi affirmed that there are no Iranian forces in the country. He pointed out that the relations between Syria and each of Iran and Moscow are strong and deep and have been enhanced during the crisis much more than before the war on Syria.

“Nothing will be at the expense of the Syrian State,” al-Zou’bi said, stressing that President Al-Assad is the key to the solution and he is the one who will lead the process of political settlement in the region”

The minister reiterated that the expansion of the ISIS terrorist organization is due to the huge support provided by certain countries to the terrorists of ISIS.
