Al-Zou’bi Condemns Turkish, Saudi Destructive Role in Syria, Criticizes US Negative Policy

TEHRAN, (ST)-The Turkish and Saudi Regimes are playing a destructive role in the region in general and in Syria in particular, Information Minister Omran al-Zou’bi has underscored, pointing out that the US policy towards Syria was never positive at any moment.

Interviewed by the Iranian Tasnim News Agency on Monday, al-Zou’bi said everybody has become aware of the close connection between the Saudi and Turkish regimes on the one hand and certain terrorist organizations like ISIS and al-Nousra Front as well as other terrorist groups on the other.

“The Saudi and Turkish role in destroying Syria and killing the Syrians has become evident through their financial, logistic and arms support for the terrorist groups,” al- Zou’bi said.

He added that “the US policies in the region, particularly in Syria, have never been positive at any moment,” pointing out that these negative policies have reflected the nature of the US role in the ongoing events in Syria embodied in providing political cover for the Saudi, Turkish and Jordanian practices in Syria and in training and supporting the so-called “moderate opposition”.

Regarding the Syrian government’s stance towards the participation in Geneva III Conference, the minister said that from the very beginning of the crisis, Syria has adopted the political track for solution and spared no opportunity for cooperation with all efforts within the framework of the process of finding solutions through political means.

He criticized the Arab League’s decision to establish what is called “joint Arab force” stressing that by doing this they are serving America to implement its schemes in the region.

He asserted that “Iran and Russia are Syria’s real friends,” hailing the two countries’ firm support for the Syrian people in the face of the global terrorist war and pointing out that some Western and Arab media outlets keep trying to distort these stances.
