DAMASCUS COUNTRYSIDE, (ST)- The city of al-Tal is now fully evacuated of gunmen and weapon as a step to pave the way for the return of the state institutions to the city, a source at the city’s reconciliation committee has stressed.
The source confirmed to SANA that a reconciliation agreement has been implemented over the past few days in al-Tal to end the armed presence and restore normal life in the city.
The legal status of a number of gunmen was settled in accordance with the Amnesty Decree No.15 for 2016 where as the rest of gunmen were secured exit to Idleb after they handed over their weapons, the source said, affirming that by this step the city of al-Tal has become completely empty of weapon and gunmen.
On Thursday, the implementation of a reconciliation agreement in Khan al-Shih area in Damascus countryside was completed after many gunmen handed over their weapons and get their legal status settled and many other left the area to Idleb. The weapons handed over included tens of armored vehicles, rockets, RPGs, hundreds of sniper rifles, machineguns and huge amount of ammunitions. The agreement included the release of 23 kidnapped persons, including civilians and military personnel.
The past few days witnessed notable progress in terms of achieving local reconciliation in the towns of Zakia, Kanaker, Kisweh, al-Huseinieh, al-Teibeh, al-Mqilbieh, Marana and Drousha farms in Damascus western and southern countryside.
The Syrian government is keen on enhancing local reconciliations across the country in parallel with the army’s operations to uproot takfiri terrorism and restore security and stability to Syria.
