Al-Suwayda Carpet Factory marketed 6,127 square meters of production during the first half of the current year, with a value of more than 351 million pounds, while production in the same period amounted to 7,478 square meters.
The director of the Factroy, Engineer Hamad Al-Shoufi, said in a statement to SANA reporter today that the marketed quantities were either sold directly or supplied to the branches of the General Company for the Wool and Carpet Industry in the governorates. He noted that the production improved in the second quarter compared to the first quarter and is considered good compared to the difficulties represented by the old machines, the old age of workers and the transportation of workers to the factory.
Al-Shoufi pointed out that the colors and inscriptions have been diversified within the available measurements during the last period, stressing the importance of speeding up the modernization of machines to ensure the continuity of work and the appointment of new workers.
The automated carpet factory took off in Al-Suwayda in 1979, and it is one of the leading factories in Syria.
