Al-Suwairi is located on the northwestern side of Homs, at the beginning of the tourist area, which extends from the village of Al-Dhahabiya to Barshin, Mashta Al-Helou, and Al-Kafirin, all of which are called Jabal Al-Helou. It rises about 650-750 meters above sea level.
The village is named after the Holy Sheikh Ali Al – Suwairi, whose shrine is located in the middle of the village. Next to the shrine there is a very ancient Arab well, as well as a small archaeological cemetery. While on its eastern side there is the old village, which was built of basalt stone and mud.
The village, with three surface dams, is surrounded by several mountains, the most important of which is Mount Bounayat, which was built to commemorate the departure of Bani Hilal from the area. Its ancient name was, “Belbil,” and is considered an archaeological center and an attractive summer resort.
