Al-Sudani: We refuse to let our lands become a starting point for aggression against any neighboring country

Baghdad (ST): Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani affirmed his country’s categorical rejection that the land of Iraq be a theater for the presence of armed groups or a springboard for aggression against any of the neighboring countries. The media office of the Prime Minister said in a statement that Al-Sudani discussed, during a meeting yesterday with the Secretary of the Iranian Supreme National Security Council, Ali Shamkhani, “the relations between Iraq and Iran, the security and political conditions throughout the region, and ways to enhance its security and stability.”

During the meeting, Al-Sudani affirmed, “Iraq’s firm position refusing to let the Iraqi lands be a springboard for aggression against any of the neighboring countries, or a theater for the presence of armed groups, or tolerating any violation of Iraqi sovereignty.”

In turn, Shamkhani reaffirmed Iran’s desire to develop bilateral relations, for the benefit of the two friendly peoples.
