BAGHDAD-Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi discussed with Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi in a phone conversation Sunday evening the latest developments in the region and methods of enhancing bilateral ties.
A statement issued by the Iraqi Prime Minister office on Monday said that during a phone call with al-Sisi, Al-Abadi reiterated the need of cooperation among all countries to face the danger of the terrorist organization calling itself “Islamic State of Iraq and Levant (ISIL).
Al-Sisi stressed that Egypt supports the Iraqi government and the national establishments, reiterating his country’s support for Iraq in the fight against terrorism and extremism.
The Egyptian leader asserted the necessity of consensus to restore social peace and build the state’s establishments, according to the statement.
