Al-Shifa Medical Complex is a battlefield for the occupation’s aggression against Gaza

Occupied Al-Quds, (ST) – Al-Shifa Complex which is the largest medical complex in the besieged Gaza Strip has become an open arena for the ongoing Israeli occupation aggression against the Strip which has continued for the 40th day, as the occupation forces stormed into it at dawn today, after besieging it for the sixth day in a row, and its courtyards have been exposed to repeated bombardment that resulted in the death and injury of dozens. .

The occupation forces stormed into the complex since the early hours of dawn, with more than 30 tanks, vehicles, and hundreds of soldiers armed with all types of weapons, explosive devices, and drones. They began shooting inside the complex, which sparked panic among the wounded, sick, and the displaced, in a new war crime added to the black record of the occupation, and commited many crimes.

The occupation forces stormed into the complex’s buildings amidst a heavy gunfire, and blew up most of the complex’s gates as well as two medicines and medical equipment warehouses in the surgical and maternity buildings. They detained many of the displaced and the families of the martyrs and the wounded and took them, stripped of most of their clothes, handcuffed and blindfolded, to unknown destinations.

No one knows the fate of thousands of wounded, sick, medical personnel, and displaced people, due to the occupation cutting off communications before storming into the complex, and due to the inability of those inside to leave it, or even to have a look.

Al-Shifa Complex, affiliated with the Palestinian Ministry of Health, was established in 1946. It is considered the largest medical institution in Gaza Strip, with an area of 45,000 square meters and a capacity of about 700 beds.

It includes three specialized hospitals: surgery, internal medicine, and obstetrics and gynecology, with a nursery department for premature babies, in addition to the emergency department, intensive care unit, radiology and a blood bank.

The Palestinians affirm that the occupation will leave the Shifa Medical Complex sooner or later and will fail to achieve any of the lies and false narratives that it spreads to public opinion. They stress that the silence of the United Nations and the support of Western countries, especially the United States, for the occupation will not prevent them from clinging to and defending their land and their legitimate national rights.
