Al-Shibani: Syria’s foreign policy aims at reassuring the international community, clarifying its vision, gaining allies

Minister of Foreign Affairs Asaad Al-Shaibani said in a speech during the conference announcing the Victory of the Syrian Revolution “we succeeded in drawing a decent Syrian identity that expresses the aspirations of our people, and establishes a country based on freedom, justice and dignity, in which everyone feels the love of the homeland, belonging and sacrifice”.

“Amidst the current challenges, Syria is pursuing a purposeful and multidimensional foreign policy aimed at reassuring the international community, clarifying its vision, gaining allies, and representing our people both domestically and abroad,”Al-Shibani added.

He stressed that the main goal of the Syrian foreign policy is to contribute to creating a regional and international situation based on cooperation, mutual respect and strategic partnerships.

“In our Arab region we carry a heavy legacy of conflicts. Through our foreign policy, we will strive to reduce this tension and establish peace, ultimately enabling Syria to play an active role,” Al-Shibani pointed out.

He clarified that Syria attaches special importance to its Arab ties and continues to enhance its relations with neighboring countries. Syria also continues its march firmly and persistently, and draws a strong image whose effectiveness in foreign policy is increasing through new partnerships.

“We have been able to achieve exceptions and suspend some US and European sanctions and this in turn will benefit the country and encourage support for Syria and accelerate the movement of recovery and growth,” Al-Shibani indicated.
