Al-Sheibani: “We seek establishing political and economic partnerships with Bahrain”

During a press conference with his Bahraini counterpart Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Asaad Al-Sheibani thanked the Bahraini delegation for visiting Damascus. He stressed that the visit expresses Bahrian’s support for the Syrian people’s to decide their future, for Syria’s territorial integrity and for the stability of Syria and the region.

“Today, a full month has passed since we began work. During this short period we managed to restore Syria’s long-lost Arab role, and we announced our readiness to represent Syria in all Arab forums, starting with the Arab League”, Al-Sheibani said.

He added that Syria is looking forward to establishing political and economic partnerships with Bahrain for the benefit of both countries. He stressed that the exceptions recently issued by the US administration pave the way for supporting the service sectors, which are vital for the Syrians, and prepare the ground for countries wishing to carry out investments in Syria.

He affirmed that future Syria will be a new page in the history of the Syrian people and that the relationship between the state and the people will be based on citizenship and respect, not on injustice and tyranny.

Earlier, the Bahraini Foreign Minister Abdullatif al-Zayani said during his meeting with his Syrian counterpart Asaad Al-Sheibani in Damascus on Wednesday “we are keen on preserving Syria’s independence and territorial integrity and restoring its role at the Arab and international levels.

“We are also ready to expand cooperation with Syria in all fields”, he added, calling for lifting the economic sanctions imposed on Syria.
