On February 9, Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Al-Safadi stressed the necessity of resolving the crisis in Syria politically in a manner that preserves its security, stability, unity and territorial integrity.
During the talks in Amman with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vercinin and the special envoy of the Russian President to Syria Alexander Lavrentiev, Safadi pointed out the need for Syria to restore its leadership role in the region.
The talks dealt with developments in the region, especially the efforts made to find a political solution to the crisis in Syria and the importance of continuing cooperation in combating terrorism.
Safadi warned of the danger of unilateral Israeli actions that constitute a violation of international law that entrenches the occupation of the Palestinian territories.
