Al-Ruwaidi: The occupation threatens to displace 13,000 Palestinians from the Old City of Al-Quds

Occupied Al-Quds, (ST) – Ahmed Al-Ruwaidi, Advisor to the Palestinian Presidency for Al-Quds (Jerusalem) Affairs, warned of the seriousness of the Israeli occupation’s plans to forcibly displace 13,000 Palestinians from the Old City of occupied Al-Quds to expand settlement operations.

Al-Ruwaidi said in a statement on Wednesday , reported by Wafa News Agency, that the excavations carried out by the occupation authorities, and the tunnels in the vicinity of Al-Aqsa Mosque, aim to strengthen settlement expansion in the vicinity of the Old City.

“Through these illegal actions the occupation authorities push the people in Al-Quds to emigrate or lead to their displacement due to the danger of excavations on their homes and lives, as part of the occupation’s policy of forced displacement to evacuate several neighborhoods in the Old City and its surroundings”, he added.

Al-Ruwaidi indicated that the occupation is trying to obliterate the features of the Islamic and Christian old town to falsify history.

He called on the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization “UNESCO” to assume its legal responsibilities by sending an urgent investigation committee to look into the occupation’s harmful acts against to the cultural heritage in Al-Quds which was registered on the World Heritage List in 1981.
