Al-Qureir Environmental Park, a tourist site in the charming nature of Homs countryside

Al-Qureir Eco-Tourist Park is located between the villages of Habnamera and Ain Al-Bardeh in the western countryside of Homs. The park includes wooden huts, benches, tables made of tree trunks, some reed roofs, and solid rocks, which have been rearranged in a charming way that adds elegance and beauty to the place.

Muntaha Al-Massiss, the supervisor of the park, said: “The idea of the project came during her visit to the place years ago when she called for a rural development organization to invest in it, so the opportunity was given to implement the proposal with the participation of her sister who studies agricultural engineering. The idea turned out into a project on the ground.

Al-Massiss indicated that the project aims to activate eco-tourism and raise awareness of the need to preserve nature, in addition to attracting tourists from home and abroad, pointing out that qualitative teams of nature and environment lovers visit the site, especially infantry teams, scouts, athletes, and civil society from Homs and the governorates.

Under a tent made of reeds, Shehadeh Aneed, a youngster of Habnamera, exhibits  dishes, tables, and various utensils woven by his hands from basil sticks, which he skillfully molded . Aneed said: “I enjoy working in the atmosphere of nature, and I feel comfortable.”

During her visit to the park, Iman Takla, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of the Environmental Association of Homs Friends, demonstrated the importance of establishing an ecological park distinguished by its location and simple components, which contributes to the revitalization of the area in terms of tourism and the environment.

A group of children, during their visit to the park, sat on wooden benches in an open tent shaded by a reed roof. They drew paintings in nature’s colors, used tree leaves and some flowers to decorate their drawings, and expressed their satisfaction with their visit to the park.

The child Alma invited fellow children to visit such a park and enjoy the picturesque landscapes, while the child Yara Maqdisi showed her love and attachment to the place and her comfort with her companions, while the child Grace expressed her happiness to practice her hobby of drawing with nature all around, and making new friends.

The young Katrina Satma from the Habnamera Scouts saw that the establishment of Al-Qureir Park is a real support for visitors, serving them by sitting in wooden huts, and spending a pleasant time, given that the area of Wadi Al-Qureir was and still is an important tourist destination for the villagers and expatriates.

Ghazwan Qazour, the leader of the Habnamera Scouts, said: “He and his companions from the village and neighboring villages show a special interest in nature, by making trips and marches in it, including the Al-Qureir Tourist Park while accompanying tourist groups to introduce them to the region, and give them information about what the location stores in terms of caves, springs, waterfalls, forest plants and trees, etc.
