Al-Qaymariya neighborhood in Damascus, details and stories

Damascus (ST): On its walls and in its alleys, the history of the oldest inhabited capital in history was engraved. It is the Damascene neighborhood of Al-Qaymariya, which occupies a middle area between the neighborhoods of the city of Damascus. It connects Bab Touma, Al-Salam, Al-Amarah and the Umayyad Mosque, embracing beautiful details that include various types of handicrafts that draw the visitor to it.
In the nineteenth century, according to the book “Damascus Aspects” by the researcher Mounir Kayal, the ancient neighborhood of Qaymariya was called “Little India”, due to the various types of luxurious industries and distinctive textiles it includes with all its fragrant past and ancient history.
Since the early morning hours, the visitors of this neighborhood race to walk the ancient road with black stones, accompanied by Fayrouz’s voice emanating from cafes, shops, and other details such as food, coffee, candy, and antique stores. There are also individual young artists who  draw people’s  faces directly or write the names of loved ones on colored sand or grains of rice. One can take a souvenir photo in this neighborhood flooded with beauty, or buy wild roses sold in the alleys of the neighborhood, or visit authentic restaurants and cafes scattered on its sides.
