BAGHDAD, (ST)- The Iraqi Border Crossing Authority has announced the approval of the Iraqi government to open al-Qaim border-crossing with Syria on Monday after all necessary procedures had been completed.
Director of the media office at the crossing authority Alauddin al-Qaisi said in telephone conversation with SANA correspondent in Baghdad that the Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi approved on Saturday the reopening of al-Qaim-al-Boukmal border crossing between Syria and Iraq to facilitate the movement of travelers and trade between the two countries.
All the border outlets in cooperation with concerned parties have completed the necessary technical, administrative and security procedures to ensure soft transportation movement, according to al-Qaisi.
Al-Qaem border crossing was liberated from the gangs of Daesh terrorist organization in November 2017. Its reopening was postponed several times because rehabilitation works had not been finished.
