Al-Olabi , Martin to develop means of cooperation with the “Red Cross” in the field of humanitarian work
Damascus, (ST) – The Governor of Damascus, Engineer Adel Al-Olabi, discussed with the Head of the International Committee of the Red Cross delegation in Syria, Christoph Martin prospects for bilateral cooperation between the two sides and ways to enhance them in the humanitarian, relief and health fields.
The two sides discussed means of coordination between the governorate of Damascus and the Committee of the Red Cross and the facilities provided to enhance humanitarian work and increase relief aid to meet the growing needs in light of the repercussions of the Corona pandemic.
The Governor of Damascus commended the efforts made by the Committee in the field of humanitarian work, which will reflect positively on the citizens, especially the displaced.
Al-Olabi stressed the need to lift the unilateral coercive measures imposed by Western countries on the Syrian people, in order to relieve the Syrian people’s suffering.
In turn, Martin pointed to the fruitful cooperation with the governorate of Damascus and the close cooperation between the Committee and the Syrian Arab Red Crescent in the field of emergency responses to meet the growing needs in the governorate in terms of humanitarian, relief and health aid and to secure it according to the available capabilities.
Martin pointed to the increase in humanitarian and relief needs in light of the people’s return to their areas after the improvement in the stability situation.
He indicated that there are many more effective projects that the Committee in Damascus is working on related to humanitarian needs and the water sector and others.
