Al-Nousra Terrorists’ Infiltrate Again into Yarmouk Camp, Violate Peace Initiative

DAMASCUS-Armed Groups affiliated to the terrorist al-Nousra Front managed yesterday to infiltrate again into the al-Yarmouk Camp area in Damascus in a blatant violation of the peaceful popular initiative agreed on in the camp, Anwar Raja, the media official at the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine/General Command/, said.

According to Raja, al-Nousra terrorists infiltrated to the camp and controlled some sites in the area after all Palestinian factions acting in Damascus had cooperated with the Syrian government to implement a peaceful initiative aiming to end the camp’s crisis and to allow the access of food and humanitarian aid to the people trapped in the area by the armed groups.

“This dangerous development indicates the continuity of the war on the Palestinian people’s sacred right to return. This war is waged by the governments which are currently fueling the conflict in Syria,” Raja said, pointing out that the Palestinian armed groups aren’t able to implement the obligations of the initiative, a thing that necessitates Palestinian popular efforts to confront those armed groups and their supporters by all means to save the camp.

For his part, Director of the Political Department of the Palestinian Liberation Organization Anwar Abdul Hadi urged the armed groups to leave al-Yarmouk Camp, stressing the Palestinian firm stance on not interfering in the crisis in Syria.

“Syria is a sisterly country which has been all the time supporting the Palestinians and their rights, so it is shameful to interfere in its internal affairs. We are paying expensively for the attempts of some parties to trade in the Palestinian cause,” Abdul Hadi said.

He added the situation in the camp was so difficult, pointing out that more Palestinian factions’ meetings are to be held to assess the situation and find a way out.
