Al-Mouallem: Division in UNSC leads to spread of terrorism
NEW YORK, (ST)_Foreign and Expatriates Minister has underscored that the division in the international community has led to its failure in combating terrorism, which spreads all over the world.
Walid al-Mouallem, who was talking to the al-Mayadeen TV channel’s reporter in New York, said that Syria called for the implementation of the UN resolutions on counterterrorism. “We asked why the United Nations Security Council has adopted no measure against the countries that has not implemented these resolutions,” he added.
On his part, the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov declared that the big risk is to ignore that thousands of the ISIS gunmen, including those who are originally from the previous Soviet Union and Russia, will go back to our country to wreak havoc.
The remarks of the two diplomats came after they held talks today over political and military issues, according to the official news agency (SANA).
The agency added that al-Mouallem separately met last night his Indian, Algerian, Cuban and Democratic Korean counterparts.
The talks zeroed in on the recent developments at the international arena and the situation in Syria.
