Al-Mohammad takes gold in S. Korea

INCHEON, (ST) – Mohammad Khalid al-Mohammad, the outstanding Syrian athlete, has captured gold in the 2nd Asian Games (special needs) ,currently being hosted by the South Korean city of Incheon.

Al-Mohammad came first in the shot put contest.

 Al-Mohammad set a new Syrian record with 12 m and 44 cm.

Iranian Jawid came second while Amer Abdul Aziz from Jordan finished third.

NouraBadour, al-Mohammad’s teammate, came third in the powerlifting contest (85 kg).

It is to be noted that the Syrian team, who are taking part in the event includes: Mohammad Khalid al-Mohammad, Bassam Sawsak, Yihya abo-Maghdib, Shadi Issa, RashaIssa, NataliIlias and Noura Badoura.

Approximately 4500 athletes from 41 nations are competing in 21 sports.
