Al-Moallem: West Wants Oil-Rich Arab Region to Stay a Big Consumer Market for Western Products

DAMASCUS, (ST)-The West wants the oil and natural resources-rich Arab region to stay as a big consuming market for western products and it also wants the Israeli occupation entity to dominate this region, Deputy Premier, Minister of foreign Affairs and Expatriates Walid al-Moallem has stressed.

Al-Moallem made the remarks during a People’s Assembly’s (PA) session on Wednesday in which he briefed the PA members on the latest regional and international developments.

The Syrian top diplomat said that the West wants the war on Syria and the economic siege imposed on the Syrians to continue.  It also seeks preventing countries from taking part in Syria’s reconstruction process and wants the presence of the American forces in the Syrian al-Jazeera and the US support for the so-called Syria Democratic Forces (SDF) to continue.

Al-Moallem explained the destructive role played by some countries involved in the terrorist war imposed on Syria since 2011, mainly Turkey, which has been a partner in the conspiracy alongside the US which armed and trained the terrorist groups.  He also talked about the unilateral coercive measures imposed on the Syrian people by the United States, European Union States and some Arab countries.

“The economic blockade imposed on the Syrian people is one form of terrorism because it targets every Syrian citizen as well as all the companies that deal with Syria and the private sector which backs the Syrian state’s steadfastness,” al-Moallem said, criticizing the stances of some Arab oil-rich states which deprive Syria from getting a single barrel of oil in implementation of American orders.

He reiterated that the Syrians, through their steadfastness and patience, have proved themselves to be a legendary people, affirming that Syria will triumph thanks to the wise leadership of President Bashar Al-Assad and the bravery of the Syrian Arab army which is currently battling terrorism in Hama northern countryside and Idleb southern countryside in order to liberate the entire Syrian territory from this plague and from the presence of illegal foreign troops in Syria.

He asserted that the war on Syria is not over, but Syria is in a better situation although complete victory over terrorism has not been achieved yet.
