Al-Moallem Urges Visiting Brazilian Delegation to Convey True Image about Syria Events to Brazilians
DAMASCUS, (ST)- Deputy Premier, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Walid al-Moallem on Sunday held a meeting with the visiting Brazilian parliamentary delegation led by MP Arlindo Chinaglia. Talks dealt with deep friendship and cooperation ties between Syria and Brazil and ways of enhancing these ties in the parliamentary field.
Al-Moallem urged the guest delegation to convey the truth about what is going on in Syria to the Brazilian public opinion and to uncover the crimes committed by the terrorist takfiri groups against the Syrians over the past seven years.
He hailed the key positive role being played by the Syrian community in Brazil in explaining the reality of events in Syria.
On his part, Chinaglia affirmed that the goal of the delegation’s visit to Syria is to consolidate the political and parliamentary ties between Syria and Brazil, noting the existence of a big Syrian community in Brazil that can help uncover the real goals of the terrorist war on Syria to the Brazilian people who voice solidarity with the Syrian people against this war.
Members of the delegation pointed out that enhancing diplomatic ties between Syria and Brazil would boost cooperation at all levels particularly during the coming era of recovery and reconstruction in Syria.
US rejects reconciliation project as it hinders its agenda
In the same context, Minister of State for National Reconciliation Affairs Ali Haidar, who also met the guest delegation, said that national reconciliation reflects the Syrians’ cultural identity which is more than 10,000 years old.
The United States was the first to reject the reconciliation project as it hinders its agenda which seeks creating chaos and division in Syria and the region, he said.
The minister talked about Syria’s local reconciliation project and its importance in paving the way for national dialogue.
He hailed the stances of the BRICS countries, including Brazil, in supporting Syria and in contributing to the reconstruction project.
Grand Mufti of the Republic Ahmad Badreddin Hassoun and the Brazilian delegation also held a meeting during which the mufti affirmed that the terrorism targeting Syria poses a threat to the entire world and called for working hard to prevent the spread of extremism among youths.
