DAMASCUS, (ST)-Deputy Premier, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Walid al-Moallem has reiterated that Syria’s program to restore Security and Stability to the country gives national reconciliation a priority.
Al-Moallem made the remarks during his meeting on Sunday with the UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Stephen O’Brien. He stressed that the Syrian government is keen on meeting the basic needs of the Syrian citizens who have kept steadfast in their battle against terrorism.
He affirmed the importance that concerned UN organizations be committed to its humanitarian and relief work.
On his part, O’Brein said his visit to Syria aimed at work on ground and at carrying on efforts to provide humanitarian assistance to the Syrian people. He highly appreciated the cooperation of the Syrian government in this respect.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faysal al-Mikdad, Advisor of the Foreign Minister Ahmad Arnous, Director of International Organizations Department Onfuan Al-Naeb, the Resident UN Coordinator in Damascus Yacoub al-Helo and members of the delegation accompanying O’Beirn.
Earlier, al-Mikdad met O’Brein and discussed with him all issues relating to delivering humanitarian aid to targeted Syrian people. Both stressed the need of integration to carry out the mission successfully.
