Al-Moallem to Egyptian Al-Nahar TV: Some Arab Countries Betrayed Syria, Colluded with the West against the Country
CAIRO, (ST)- Deputy Premier, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Walid al-Moallem has stressed that in order to attain a political settlement to the crisis in Syria, the Security Council resolutions relating to fighting terrorism should be implemented and the countries supporting terrorist organizations must be forced to stop financing and arming the terrorists.
“Our problem stems from the existence of foreign terrorists in Syria including Chechens, Britons and others from different nationalities,” al-Moallem said in an interview with the Egyptian “al-Nahar” Channel conducted by journalist Amro al-Kahki.
He added that solution in Syria needs great efforts by all countries of the region, hailing Iran’s constructive role as a great regional country to attain this solution and stressing that Egypt can also play an influential role in this respect if it wants.
Al-Moallem stressed that terrorism is being exported to Syria from more than 100 countries and terrorists are entering Syria across the Turkish and Jordanian borders to fight the Syrian government, but the Syrian people, army and leadership are confronting them.
He wondered “why Turkey allows the terrorists to infiltrate into Syria and helps America establish training camps for the terrorists on Turkish lands, while Israel feels happy for the shedding of every drop of Syrian blood.”
The Syrian top diplomat pointed out that it is normal for the Syrian state to use proper tools to defeat terrorism, but many terrorists are taking civilians as human shields, so all news about massacres in Douma and other areas are but lies fabricated professionally by the anti-Syria media.
Al-Moallem asserted that Syria welcomes every Arab initiative to solve the crisis in Syria, saying “our hands are opened to every Arab initiative…We say welcome to all who knock our door… we are the sort of people who don’t like blood shedding.”
The minister hailed Syria’s relation with Iran and Hizbollah, stressing that “this relation is a source of worry to some parties because of our unified stance against Israel.”
He affirmed that there is no Iranian, Chinese or Russian authority in Syria, stressing that the Syrian-Iranian relation is based on mutual respect and that the Arabs have given up their role to help Syria and, instead, they betrayed Syria and colluded with the West against the country.
On the reason behind the Syrian-Turkish differences, al-Moallem said it was because the Syrian leadership refused a request by Ankara in 2011 calling on Syria to make the terrorist organization “Moslem Brotherhood” a partner in power in Syria.
Regarding the so-called “Syrian opposition coalition”, al-Moallem said this coalition has no representation in Syria and it gets orders from their masters in some countries…we want an opposition that makes its own decision”
The minister asserted that “what achieves Israel interest “is not a spring…let’s see what the so-called Arab Spring has brought to us…we are destroying each other while Israel is clapping to us.”
He stressed that a change can’t be achieved through terrorism that destroys and that is armed from abroad and from some Arabs…it is achieved through dialogue among peoples to make the hoped for-reforms.”
