Al-Moallem to Czech deputy FM: Eliminating terrorism is a need for world peace and political solution in Syria

DAMASCUS – Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and Expatriates Minister Walid al-Moallem stressed that eliminating terrorism is a necessity for maintaining international peace and stability.

Fighting terrorism is the primary prelude for any political solution to the crisis in Syria, said al-Moallem during a meeting with the Czech Deputy State Secretary for Foreign Affairs Martin Tlapa on Sunday, SANA reported.

Al-Moallem said it is necessary that the countries supporting terrorism be compelled to stop this conduct in abidance by the Security Council’s counterterrorism resolutions.

He expressed high appreciation of the Czech Republic’s position on what is happening in Syria.

For his part, Tapla stressed the importance of engaging in the fight against terrorism, voicing his country’s solidarity with the Syrians’ suffering under the terrorist acts.

The Czech official earlier met with Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister Fayssal Mikdad in a separate meeting during which bilateral cooperation between Syria and the Czech Republic was discussed, in addition to the Czech contribution to the post-crisis reconstruction process in Syria.
