Al-Moallem to Chinese Envoy: Syrian Army Determined to Uproot Terrorism from the Country

DAMASCUS, (ST)- Deputy Premier, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Walid al-Moallem and  the Chinese Special Envoy for Syria Xie Xiaoyan in a meeting on Thursday discussed political developments in Syria and the region as well as the efforts exerted to achieve progress in the political process to solve the crisis in Syria in parallel with continuous fight against terrorism.

 Syrian Army determined to uproot terrorism

“Syria is relentlessly pressing ahead with its war on terrorism and the Syrian Arab army will uproot the terrorists who committed horrible crimes against innocent civilians, most recent of which were perpetrated yesterday in Sweida province where Daesh terrorists coming from the Badia attacked Sweida villages  and killed and wounded hundreds of innocent people,” al-Moallem said, affirming that the army will liberate the entire Syrian territories in cooperation with allies.

Al-Moallem talked about the Syrian government’s efforts to help the Syrian refugees and internally displaced Syrians return to their original places of residence, expressing hope that China will back these efforts.

He asserted the importance of enhancing the Syrian-Chinese friendship and cooperation and thanked China for the aid it is providing to Syria. He highly appreciated China’s role at the international arena as to help Syria confront the terrorist aggression and the unjust economic sanctions imposed on the Syrian people.

China condemns Daesh horrible massacre in Sweida

On his part, the Chinese envoy stressed his country’s strong condemnation of the horrible massacre perpetrated by Daesh against the innocents in Sweida, offering his deep condolences to the Syrian people over the victims of the crime and stressing China’s firm support for the Syrian army’s war on terrorism until terrorists are eliminated from the entire Syrian lands.

 He renewed China’s call for the restoration of security and stability to Syria and reiterated that his country accords great interest to the issue of the return of Syrian refugees and displaced to their home, noting China’s intention to continue providing different forms of assistance to Syria.

China Seeks Playing Constructive role in Solving Crisis in Syria

Xie Xiaoyan made it clear that China seeks playing a constructive role in solving the crisis in Syria in coordination with the Syrian side in a way that preserves Syria’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.

He expressed China’s keenness on deepening Chinese-Syrian relations in all fields in the light of the strong friendship linking between the two countries, noting  that Syria is considered as a key stop within China’s Belt and Road Initiative.
