NEW DELHI, (ST)- Deputy Premier, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Walid al-Moallem and the Indian National Security Advisor Ajit Doval yesterday discussed the political situation in the Middle East, anti-terror efforts, ways to attain political solution in Syria and methods of enhancing bilateral ties between Syria and India.
During the meeting, al-Moallem stressed Syria’s readiness to cooperate with the Indian side in combating terrorism to serve the interests of the two countries and to preserve international peace and security which are being exposed to the growing danger of takfiri terrorism.
He reiterated the need to force all the countries which support terrorism to stop providing all forms of help to the terrorists, because this support has endangered security and stability in the world and proved that these countries don’t respect Security Council resolutions in this respect.
On his part, Doval asserted that India is greatly interested in combating terrorism and in reaching a political solution to the crisis in Syria, clarifying that terrorism poses huge danger to both Syria and India, the region and the entire world.
He reiterated the need to unify all international efforts to fight and eliminate terrorism.
The meeting was attended by Riad Abbas, Syria’s Ambassador to India and senior officials at the Indian Cabinet.
Al-Moallem started his four-day official visit to India on Monday.
