Al-Moallem says humanitarian aid should not be politicized

DAMASCUS,(ST)_Walid al-Moallem has said the organizations that offer humanitarian aid to Syria should not be politicized.

Foreign and Expatriates Minister’s remark came during his meeting with Head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Peter Maurer.  

According to the Syrian TV channel, al-Moallem welcomed the ideas presented by Maurer who expressed his satisfaction over cooperation between Syria, the ICRC and the Syrian Arab Red Crescent in field of delivering aid to those in need.

The minister also stressed that Syria highly appreciates the ICRC’s efforts to overcome the difficulties that Syria is getting into.  

On his part, Maurer underscored need for enhancing cooperation in field of international humanitarian law.

Intervention increases burdens

Earlier, Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minster Faisal al-Miqdad held talks with Maurer on cooperation between Syria, the ICRC and the Syrian Arab Red Crescent.

Al-Miqdad said that foreign intervention increases burdens on the international humanitarian organizations.
