MUSCAT, (ST)- Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Walid al-Moallem, accompanied by his Omani counterpart Yousef Bin Alawi, opened the new headquarters of the Syrian Embassy in Muscat.
The embassy opening ceremony was attended by members of the Syrian community in Oman and senior Omani Foreign Ministry officials and it included folklore and artistic shows expressing the Syrian cultural heritage.
Earlier, al-Moallm discussed with Chairman of the Omani State Council Yahya bin Mahfouz Al-Mundhiri ways of boosting parliamentary relations between Syria and Oman.
The Syrian top diplomat stressed the importance of deepening parliamentary contacts between the two countries, hailing the Omani parliamentary experience represented by the Oman Council which consists of the State Council and the Shoura Council.
On his part, al-Mundhiri stressed the Council’s willingness to enhance brotherly relations with the Syrian People’s Assembly, expressing hope that security and stability will be restored to Syria soon so as the country regains its leading role in the Arab arena.
