Al-Moallem Meets Zarif in Tehran, Stresses Zionist Aggression on Syrian Areas Aims at Raising Terrorists’ Morale

TEHRAN, (ST) – Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Walid al-Moallem and his Iranian counterpart, Javad Zarif have stressed that yesterday’s Israeli aggression on two Syrian sites aimed at raising the morale of the extremist groups after their defeats under the strikes of the Syrian Arab Army.

In a press conference they held on Monday in Tehran, the two ministers reiterated that keen efforts are being exerted in coordination with friendly countries to attain a political solution to the crisis in Syria based on dialogue among the Syrians away from any foreign interference.

Conspiracy on Syria Continues

Al-Moallem, who thanked the Iranian president people and government for their constant support for the Syrian people in the confrontation of terrorism, affirmed that “Syria is facing a conspiracy the plotters of which shamelessly continue to play their conspiring role led as ewes by the U.S., some European states and certain countries in the region including Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar.”

Conspirators Stand at the Same Line with Israel

He added that the conspirators haven’t realized that by conspiring on Syria they are pushing terrorism towards their own countries and whether they realize or not, they are standing at the same line with Israel which yesterday attacked two Syrian sites aiming to rise the morale of the terrorists after they have been defeated in Deir EzZour and after the Syrians have proved matchless steadfastness in several Syrian areas including Nubbul and al-Zahraa, Ayn al-Arab, Qalamoun and Aleppo.

“The people of Nubbul and al-Zahraa have presented a great example of patriotism through their confrontation of the terrorism of al-Nousra Front and the Syrian army also proved superiority in the battle against the terrorists of “Daesh” in the surrounding of Deir EzZour Airport,” al-Moallem clarified.

No Option but to Triumph over Terrorism

“Syria will keep steadfast as we have no option but to triumph over terrorism,” he reiterated, pointing out that Syria is keen to work with Iran and with its friends in Russia and other countries to attain political settlement to the crisis in Syria based on dialogue among the Syrians away from foreign interference.

On his part, Zarif condemned the Zionist entity’s aggression on Syria, stressing that it aimed at assisting the extremist organizations and raise their morale after the successive defeats “Daesh” has suffered over the past weeks in Syria and Iraq.

Iran Will Keep Supporting Syria

The Iranian top diplomat, who asserted that Iran will keep supporting the steadfastness of the Syrian people, said “the region is facing a big regional and international crisis for which the Syrian and Iraqi peoples are paying expensively. The people in Syria and Iraq are confronting foreign-backed wave of extremism and terrorism that aims at achieving illegitimate goals for others.”

Zarif stressed that double standard and irrational policies can’t solve the problem of terrorism in the region, actually they help disseminate terrorism and extremism which pose serious threat to the entire world.

Terrorists Distorted Tolerant Image of Islam

He referred to the UN acknowledgment that “citizens from more than 80 countries are in Syria and Iraq as a support force to Daesh and al-Nousra Front. These people were cheated and misled by lies in the name of Islam. They distorted the tolerant image of Islam and committed horrible massacres and this is an international danger because those terrorists will return to their homelands and will be a source of serious threat.”

Zarif hoped that the crisis in Syria will be solved politically, stressing keen efforts to attain this goal.

Al-Moallem arrived in Tehran today morning to take part in a two-day Conference on Combating Violence and Extremism.

Foreign Ministers of five countries including Syria, Iraq, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Nicaragua are taking part in the event in addition to prime ministers and ex foreign ministers of many world countries.
