Al-Miqdad: Western Unilateral Coercive Measures Target The Syrian People

Dr. Faisal Al-Miqdad, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, affirmed that the unilateral Western coercive measures imposed on Syria target the Syrian people, especially children, women and the elderly.

In an interview with the Chinese Xinhua News Agency, Minister Al-Miqdad pointed out that China is helping Syria out of the principle of equal relations between countries in order to serve the causes of peoples and the future of the world, especially in establishing international peace and security, unlike the United States, which imposes conditions even on humanitarian organizations that work to provide support and assistance in times of crises.

Minister Al-Miqdad indicated that the United States, through its support for militias linked to it in northeastern Syria, is stealing Syrian oil, wheat and cotton and is preventing any kind of development there.

Al-Miqdad stressed that Americans’ talk about democracy aims at misleading the international community and increasing division in it so as to restore US hegemony over the countries of the world under the pretext of democracy. Minister Al-Miqdad pointed out that the United States claims that it is the bulwark of democracy, but the type of democracy it follows is tainted by many defects and is not real.

In response to a question about the United States’ suspicion of democracy in China, Al-Miqdad affirmed that China adopts a fair internal policy towards all members of the Chinese society and follows a truly-democratic policy in its relations with other countries.
