During a phone call today with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman Badrbin Hamad Al-Busaidi, Dr. Faisal Al-Miqdad, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates discussed the latest developments in the region and the world and a number of issues of bilateral cooperation between the two brotherly countries.
The two sides reviewed the ongoing follow-up by the concerned parties in the two countries to put into practice the results of Al-Miqdad’srecent visit to the Sultanate of Oman with regard to developing and strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries in all fields. They also discussed coordination and consultation with regard to political developments on the Arab and international arenas.
Minister Al-Miqdad cast light on the success achieved by the Syrians with regard to achieving the constitutional entitlement represented in the presidential elections and holding them inside and outside Syria. He stressed that the Syrians inside and outside the country proved to the world that the Syrian people support the leadership of President Bashar al-Assad and that the West’s attempts to negatively influence these elections have failed.
Minister Al-Miqdad also affirmed to his Omani counterpart the completion of the Syrian legal procedures related to the agreement signed between the two countries regarding the mutual exemption of holders of diplomatic, special and service passports, and the issuance of the law ratifying this agreement by the People’s Assembly last Tuesday.
Al-Miqdad expressed the Syrian people’s satisfaction of the outstanding cooperation between the two countries and their desire to promote bilateral relations to a level that serves the interests of the two brotherly peoples.
In turn, the Omani minister congratulated his Syrian counterpart on the success of the presidential elections and blessed the Syrian Arab Republic for this achievement. He hoped that this would enhance Syria’s return to playing its important role at the Arab and international levels and that security and stability would prevail in all Syrian territories.
The two ministers agreed to maintain continuous communication to discuss issues and developments of common interest.
