Al-Miqdad: The Syrian government is keen on facilitating the work of ICRC in the humanitarian field

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affaires and Expatriates Faisal Al-Miqdad received President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Peter Maurer and the accompanying delegation.

Al-Miqdad expressed the Syrian government’s appreciation for the efforts made by the ICRC in the humanitarian field in Syria, pointing to the Syrian government’s keenness on facilitating  its work in various Syrian regions to meet the basic humanitarian needs of the Syrian people.

 

Al-Miqdad highlighted the mutual trust and constructive cooperation between the Syrian government and the ICRC and the Syrian Arab Red Crescent Organization (SARC).

Al-Miqdad underlined the need for  the international organizations working in Syria, including the International Committee of the Red Cross, to attach great importance to the areas recently liberated by the Syrian Arab Army in Idlib, Aleppo, and Hama provinces to restore normal and stable life to the villages which are liberated from terrorist organizations as soon as possible.

For his part, Maurer expressed his appreciation for the relations between Syria and the International Committee of the Red Cross and praised the facilities provided by the Syrian government for the work of the ICRC, pointing to the ICRC’s endeavor to expand its operations and activities in Syria at various levels through cooperation with the Syrian government and SARC so that the humanitarian aid reaches the largest possible number of civilians who deserve this aid.

From the Syrian side, the meeting was attended by Director of the Department of International Organizations and Conferences Abdel-Moneim Annan, Director of the Office of the Deputy Minister Osama Ali, Basil Aizouki from the Organizations Department and Yamen Badr from the Office of the Deputy Minister. From the guest side, Regional Director for Middle East Operations Fabrizio Carboni, Representative of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Syria Philip Sboerri and special assistance of Maurer Elise Meskoni attended the meeting.
