Al-Miqdad: The late Sheikholeslam contributed to strengthening strategic relations between Syria and Iran

TEHRAN, Mar.7, (ST)-Iranian Foreign Ministry commemorated on Tuesday the 3rd anniversary of the demise of Hossein Sheikholeslam, the former deputy Foreign Minister, in the presence of Syrian Ambassador in Tehran Shafiq Dayoub, who represented the Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Faisal Al-Miqdad.

In a speech on behalf of Al-Miqdad, Ambassador Dayoub hailed the career of late Sheikholeslam, saying that his passing away was a loss for Iran and the resistance axis as he was known for his stances in support of Palestine.

The speaker also referred to the great efforts exerted by the late diplomat, when was an ambassador in Damascus between 1998 and 2003, to boost strategic ties between Syria and Iran.

“On behalf of my colleagues in the Foreign Ministry and in my name, I extend warmest condolence to the Iranian people on the anniversary of the passing away of late Ambassador Sheikholeslam,” he added.

Representatives from Lebanon, Palestine and Iraq, in addition to some Ambassadors accredited in Tehran attended the event.
