Al-Miqdad: Syrian government is committed to providing facilities and support to Palestinian refugees
During the meeting, Minister Al-Miqdad affirmed the Syrian government’s continued commitment to provide the facilities and support required for the Agency to meet the needs of the Palestinian refugees in terms of basic services such as education, medical care and others,.
He added that the Syrian government was always ready to provide everything to alleviate the suffering and challenges that have afflicted the Palestinian people since the Nakba in 1948.
Minister Al-Miqdad stressed the need to enhance cooperation and coordination between the Syrian government and the agency to overcome obstacles and burdens that prevent the success of the agency’s projects and activities aimed at delivering services to the Palestinian camps in Syria that have been destroyed by terrorist groups.
Al-Miqdad expressed his hope that UNRWA would be able to recover from the financial crisis it is suffering from, especially after the administration of the former US President Donald Trump cut financial support for UNRWA in compliance with Israeli demands.
Minister Al-Miqdad stressed that the United Nations and the international community in general should bear their responsibilities in providing protection to the Palestinian people, supporting UNRWA and providing assistance to it.
Al-Miqdad also condemned all terrorist practices of the Israeli occupation authorities against the Palestinian people. He stressed the need for the return of the Palestinian people and the establishment of an independent, sovereign Palestinian state with Al-Quds (Jerusalem) as its capital.
Lazzarini expressed his thanks and gratitude for the support provided by the Syrian government to the agency, which contributes to facilitating its work and its success. He said that the agency is making unremitting effort to meet the current and basic needs of the Palestinian people in Syria.
