Al-Miqdad: Syria’s stances are principled, and its enemies resorted to war when they failed to undermine it
Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Faisal Miqdad, affirmed that the Syrian policy’s priorities are principled in terms of refusing to interfere in its internal affairs, support the Palestinian cause, and work to liberate the occupied Arab lands. When Syria’s enemies failed to undermine it and diverted it from its principled positions, they resorted to the terrorist war against it.
Al-Miqdad said in an interview with the Syrian Satellite channel on Wednesday that Syria’s positions have been firm and principled for a long time in continuing to support the Palestinian cause and working to liberate the occupied Arab lands in the Syrian Golan, southern Lebanon and Palestine. Because of Syria’s adherence to these positions and due to its strategic location and its great influence in the region, the main goal of the hostile countries is to influence on Syria’s policy and diverted it from its approach, but when all these methods failed, they resorted to terrorism, which they supported and financed with billions of dollars.
Al-Miqdad indicated that the Western plan aimed to target Syria and end its role which confronted the West’s attempts to create a new reality that would serve its interests and the entity of the Israeli occupation. But steadfastness of the Syrian people and army foiled the western scheme, confirming that the Turkish occupation will get out of northwest Syria and the American occupation from the northeast and from Al-Tanf region.
Al-Miqdad stressed that all the occupied areas will return to the authority of the Syrian state, and the separatist “SDF” militia must realize that the American occupier will leave our land and will abandon them.
Regarding the US State Department’s announcement of granting a license to carry out economic activities in northeastern and northwestern Syria, Al-Miqdad said that successive American administrations were behind the terrorist war that Syria has been subjected to for eleven years until now. Washington and its Western tools provide aid to terrorist organizations in these areas which led to the destruction of the Syrian economic potential and the looting of the country’s wealth of cotton, oil, wheat and antiquities. Also, their approach to imposing unilateral coercive measures led to the destruction of the infrastructure in Syria and the martyrdom of many citizens because they refused to participate in these American and Western plans.
Al-Miqdad indicated that the Turkish regime continues to support terrorist organizations in Syria in violation of the Astana understandings. He underlined the necessity of stopping this support as well as the crimes of plundering the Euphrates River by seizing most of the water that is supposed to flow into the river inside Syrian territory in violation of international Law and the UN Charter.
Al-Miqdad stressed that the repeated Israeli attacks on Syrian territory have not and will not be able to protect Israel’s partners and agents from terrorist organizations, nor will they succeed in distracting the Syrian Arab Army from eliminating terrorists and Israel’s other tools. He stressed that Syria will not hesitate to exercise its right to defend its land and its people in all the ways guaranteed by the UN Charter and the provisions of international law.
Al-Miqdad expressed Syria’s condemnation of the Israeli occupation forces’ continued attacks on the Palestinian people and their incursions into Palestinian cities and towns, demolishing Palestinian homes, bulldozing their lands, uprooting their trees, displacing them from their areas, seizing their lands to establish thousands of settlement units. He voiced Syria’s support to the Palestinian people in their right to freedom and independence and in ending the Israeli occupation and establishing their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
regarding the statements of the European Union Commissioner for Foreign and Security Policy Josep Borrell about the Union’s lack of contribution to the reconstruction process in Syria and the lifting of sanctions only in the event of the implementation of Security Council Resolution 2254, Al-Miqdad said: “The European Union lacks the least degree of independence and has accepted for itself to be subservient and implementer of American policies. The union must not distort the UN resolution, which affirms that the Syrians are the ones who determine the future of their country themselves without any external interference and that terrorist organizations are outside any political process. We call on the West to implement it in cooperation with us, but they do not want that because they want more hegemony and control in the region.
Al-Miqdad affirmed Syria’s keenness to enhance joint Arab action and achieve Arab solidarity to serve the interests of the Arab people, highlighting the communication with most Arab countries, but the United States is trying to obstruct this by putting pressure on the countries that communicate with Syria.
Al-Miqdad said, “Syria wants to activate the enormous energies of the Arab people in the matter of development and in the face of common challenges. So, if the Israeli enemy is our enemy all, then coordination must take place between all of us in order to unite our forces and remove the imminent danger from all Arab countries.”
