Al-Miqdad: Syria is making great effort for the return of refugees while the West is exploiting their pain to serve its political targets
Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Faisal Al-Miqdad, affirmed that Syria is making a tremendous effort for the return of the refugees and urges them to return to their homeland without any conditions. The Syrian state provides all available possibilities, with the support of friends, in order for this return to be voluntary and safe.
In a statement to reporters at the Conferences Palace in Damascus after the dialogue session on the media war on Syria within the joint Syrian-Russian meeting programme, Al-Miqdad added that unilateral coercive measures impede the return of refugees, and that Western countries do not want them to return so as to use them as political pressure on Syria. These countries are taking advantage of the pain of every Syrian refugee outside his country to serve their political purposes.
Regarding the Arab move towards Syria, Al-Miqdad noted that these moves are no longer a secret. We encourage the rest of the Arab countries to do their duty towards Syria, which has defended all Arabs in the fight against terrorism and extremism. He hoped that the Arab countries will make the right choice and work towards restoring the Arab ranks and making a unified effort to restore the usurped rights of our nation because it serves the interest of all.
The foreign minister pointed out that some countries obstructed any political progress after their failure to undermine Syria through terrorism and military action. He indicated that the direct attacks by the Turkish and American occupations and support for armed terrorist groups and militias aim to pressure the Syrian state to retract the achievements and victories it achieved in its war on terrorism.
We do not accept the imposition of another will on the Syrians, and we hope the countries of the world will contribute to providing internal conditions such as ending terrorism and foreign occupation of some lands, and mobilizing all capabilities in order to achieve a safe, dignified and voluntary return of refugees to their homeland, Al-Miqdad asserted.
Regarding the dialogue with the “SDF” militia, the Minister said: We conduct dialogue with all our people, and the evidence is the recent developments in Daraa and the very positive developments in Deir Ezzor. The state welcomes everyone who wants to return to it, because American and Western ties at the expense of the homeland are a cheap waste of Syrian blood, and whoever does this must stop, whether in northeastern Syria or in its east or northwest.
Al-Miqdad indicated that the Syrian people are suffering from the illegal smuggling of their oil outside Syria under American protection and through armed militias that will pay the price for these stances.
