Al-Miqdad stresses Syria’s readiness to continue cooperation with OPCW

THE HAGUE,(ST)_Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister underscored on Friday Syria’s readiness to continue cooperation with the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW).

Faisal al-Miqdad said that time has come to remove the ‘exceptional nature’ of  the Syrian chemical file as Syria has fulfilled its obligations under the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC).

He asserted the need for cooperation with Syria like any state party in the CWC.

Al-Miqdad’s remarks came during his meeting with Director General of the OPCW Ahmet Üzümcü on the sidelines of the 19th session of the conference of states parties to the Chemical Weapons Convention.

On his part, Üzümcü highly appreciated the Syrian Arab republic’s constructive cooperation with the OPCW.
