Al-Miqdad reviews with the Regional Director of the United Nations Development Program bilateral cooperation and means of enhancing it

Damascus, (ST) – Dr. Faisal Al-Miqdad, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates reviewed on Wednesday with Khaleda Bouzar, the Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations, Regional Director of the United Nations Development Program in the Arab Countries, the cooperation between Syria and the program.

During the dialogue, the need to enhance cooperation was emphasized, especially in the areas of early recovery for the electricity, health, water, education and sanitation sectors, as stipulated in Security Council Resolution No. (2642).

Minister Miqdad stressed during the meeting the importance of not linking the so-called political process with humanitarian aid. He also referred to the catastrophic impact of the unilateral coercive measures imposed by some countries that claim their concern for the Syrian people and the theft of oil and agricultural crops by the American occupation, as well as the attacks carried out by the Turkish occupation.

In turn, Bouzar indicated that the program’s good relationship with the Syrian government contributes to the development of the program’s work, in a manner that serves the objectives of humanitarian work. He stressed the importance of continuous coordination and cooperation between the two sides to ensure the achievement of the desired results, especially in the context of supporting early recovery in order to create the appropriate conditions for the return of refugees and displaced to their homes, villages and cities.
