The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Faisal Al-Miqdad, received Ambassador Ershad Ahmed, and received from him a copy of his credentials as Ambassador of the Republic of India to the Syrian Arab Republic.
Minister Al-Miqdad praised the existing relations between Syria and India, especially India’s standing by Syria in its war on terrorism, as well as in various international forums.
Minister Al-Miqdad expressed Syria’s gratitude to India for the support it provided to it in the scientific, industrial and cultural fields, and for training qualified staff to rebuild in Syria.
The Minister expressed Syria’s appreciation in particular for India’s provision of humanitarian aid to the Syrians in the face of the earthquake disaster, as well as India’s non-acceptance of the unilateral coercive measures imposed by Western countries on Syria.
In turn, the Indian Ambassador praised the relations between India and Syria throughout historical eras, and stressed that India, which did not stop its diplomatic relations with Syria during the recent terrorist war against it, will follow the momentum of Indian-Syrian relations in various fields.
Ambassador Ahmed added: “India will provide more scholarships and training for Syrian students in its universities and training institutions, with the aim of helping Syria rebuild and overcome the difficult stage it has gone through over the past years as a result of its confrontation with terrorism and the conspiracies to which it has been exposed.”
At the end of the meeting, Minister Al-Miqdad wished Ambassador Ahmed every success in his mission of strengthening Syrian-Indian relations.
