Today, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Faisal Al-Miqdad, offered his condolences to the victims of the horrific Hamdaniyah fire accident that occurred in Nineveh Governorate, northern Iraq, at the headquarters of the Iraqi Embassy in Damascus.
Minister Al-Miqdad conveyed his warm condolences to the Iraqi people and leadership on behalf of the Syrian people, their government and their leadership.
Al-Miqdad said in a statement to reporters: “The tragedy that befell the people of Nineveh is a tragedy for all Syrians because there is no difference between Syrians and Iraqis. We all suffer in the two brotherly countries from the problems of terrorism and sanctions.”
Al-Miqdad affirmed that Syria stands by Iraq and its brotherly people and is proud of its noble relations with them, adding: “We were, still are, and will always remain one people in feelings, joys, and sorrows, and we hope from God Almighty that no harm will happen to Iraq.”
Al-Miqdad was accompanied in offering condolences from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates by Ambassador Dr. Riyad Abbas, Director of the Arab Affairs Department, Ambassador Anfwan al-Na’abDirector of the Communications and Protocol Department, and Mazen Ajan from the Media Department.
