Al-Miqdad – Moscow: Relations with Russia witness remarkable development

Moscow, (ST) – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Faisal Al-Miqdad affirmed that Syrian-Russian relations have witnessed remarkable development and Syria stands by Russia in its war against the Nazi forces that threaten all humanity.

At the outset of his meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Minister Miqdad conveyed President Bashar Al-Assad’s greetings to President Vladimir Putin and reiterated Syria’s support for the Russian special military operation in Ukraine.

Minister Miqdad said that  Syria’s recognition of the popular republics of Donetsk and Luhansk came on the basis of historical principles and facts, adding that “in the coming days there will be an exchange of diplomatic missions with them”, he added.

For his part, Lavrov affirmed that his country continues to support Syria in the fight against terrorism and continues its strenuous work to preserve the unity and integrity of the Syrian territories.

Lavrov said that Western countries are adopting aggressive colonial policies towards the Middle East. He added that global developments are becoming more complicated as a result of Washington’s policy aimed at creating a unipolar world.
